U.S. and Lithuania Forge Strategic Defense Partnership

Bilateral Security of Supply Arrangement enhances defense capabilities.

The Department of Defense has announced the establishment of a bilateral Security of Supply Arrangement (SOSA) with Lithuania. The arrangement will enhance the ability of both nations to obtain essential industrial resources for defense needs and address unexpected disruptions in defense capabilities. Under this non-binding agreement, the U.S. and Lithuania guarantee mutual support for “priority delivery requests” related to critical national defense resources.

“This Security of Supply Arrangement is a significant step forward in bringing our two nations even closer together,” said Defense Acquisition and Sustainment Under Secretary William LaPlante. “Not only will this strengthen both U.S. and Lithuanian national defense supply, but it will also strengthen our commitment to expanding future collaborations between DoD and the Ministry of National Defence.”

Lithuania has become the fifteenth SOSA partner of the U.S.—joining countries like Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom in this defense cooperation initiative.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary LaPlante as he heads the Defense Office of Acquisition and Sustainment.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Austin as he oversees the Department of Defense.
  • For the president and military officials to seek God’s direction as they enter into agreements with U.S. allies.
